Starting your own business is exciting with a lot of work. It could be overwhelming if you don’t have a clear road map of where you’re going.
From this blog you’re going to learn 5 easy steps that would help you start your business much faster & with clarity!
First things first, know that creating any kind of business from scratch requires a lot of your attention & hard work. But hei you’re already a hard worker, which is why you’re in your search to get started. So let’s get in to business!
Step One
Your business journal should be your best friend. It could be a note book or notes in your phone or any device you prefer. Define clearly your next 10- 15 business moves.
Let’s say at this point you’ve only thought about starting a business but you still don’t know what your business is going to be, but one thing you’d be sure is whether it’s a service or a physical product.
In any case your first move should be to think about where you’re going to place your business to start building it. A ground for your business . Suppose if you’re interested in writing & would like to promote & talk about your business through blogs, then definitely you’d need a website to host your blogs.
There are some platforms where you could run your website for free with certain criteria. If you’re aiming for a broader business idea & wants things done on your own platform on a budget, Showit is a great platform because it’s easy to customise even on your own & they do the hosting for you.
That’s where I’ve build my website & I’m not a tech savvy person which made Showit platform easy for me as it requires drag & drops mostly, almost like a customising a Canva Template. It’s always better to do your own research to match your budget & needs.
Blogging is a great way to sell your physical products & your services too, which is why I’ve highlighted this first.
So during this research you’d also get a much clear idea about which service you’re going to provide. Any how it should be something which interests you & you love to talk about. Doing the research about yourself is crucial to get clear about what your business is going to be. Try asking yourself questions like;
If you’r good at something which you’d love to offer your service to, than you can become great at this service by gaining more knowledge on the topic, learning through courses, audio programs, videos, books etc.
Once you’d decided on your nature of the business, it’s time to give it a name. Having a clear vision of what you’d do & where you’d place your business would help you define your next moves according to your choice. When you go further around the 7th move, it would get harder but keep on writing it down as a draft based on your knowledge & research
This could be tweaked & adjusted as you go but the important thing is to work on a path with a clear aim.
Ok, that’s a lot of grounding work you’d done in step 1, hurray for you! Now let’s keep moving to the next step
Step 2
Make sure that you complete each move fully before you get started with the next one.
Often times what happens is that when we start to create something which isn’t familiar to us & when it starts to get difficult, we start doing something new. Because starting things is much easier than completing it.
Just think about how many times we started doing something at home & we started with another. The same thing or worse happens when you don’t completely finish the task on hand. Because before you know it you’d find getting overwhelmed with a lot of tasks to be done & this could exhaust you.
So tackling one thing at a time before moving to your next task would be the best & easiest way to keep walking towards starting your business. I know this sound so basic, but if you don’t keep a track on yourself, you’d soon find yourself there.
I’ve created a Free Business Launch Checklist , having you on my mind.
So don’t aim for perfection, you won’t be perfect at first, who ever was? You’re good enough is great to go. Perfectionism comes as another form of procrastination. Which takes us to our next step
Step number 3
DON’T procrastinate. Do you know why we procrastinate in the fist place? Because we’re AFRAID, because it feels SCARY & because we DON’T KNOW.
When you start to accomplish a goal & once it reaches to the difficult part or the unknowing part, you get scared. Doubts would almost smother you even with what you already know.
Things like, who’s going to buy from me? I don’t know what I’m doing? There are already so many people doing the same thing that I’m getting started with & you don’t stand a chance….
A lot of other crazy thoughts as such would keep you awake at nights & would keep you stuck or in some cases backing away to quitting totally. But we don’t want that to happened to you, so you move WITH the fear. Know that anyone who’s done anything for the first time was scared. Scared with the unknowing & scared of the competitors too.
There’s a FIRST time for everything!
Keep in mind that embracing fear & moving with it needs a lot of courage & help from like minded people. Surround yourself with people who’d lift you up, encourage you & help you think broader. I came to realise of my procrastinating habits through my coaching sessions. I took courses & coaching plus done a lot of researches when I first started. Just like you & everyone else out there.

Step 4
Fill your calendar
Draft a month’s calendar with your business tasks. Define the time you could spend working on your business. Set weekly goals.
This would give you an idea of how YOU could serve conveniently during a specific time. This would lead you to calculate how much you’d be abe to earn at the beginning. The aim is to come up with numbers, because without numbers your business won’t take you anywhere.
You must have a separate calendar for your marketing strategies as well. This would include content creating days, emailing, blogging/posting, researching & engaging with people to build network. Plus any other which you prefer.
Having a system is essential while starting your business because it would allow you to scale & track what’s working & what’s growing with less time.
When things start to get busy & you’re the only person doing everything at first as in lots of cases when starting a business, you’d find it hard to be consistent & to expand.
Now that been said, let’s move to the last step I’ve summarised here.
Step number 5
Bring yourself out there when you’re not all ready & with some uncertainty
Start talking about your business when you’re not ready, launch your business page on social platforms when you’re not ready, because you’re never going to feel REALLY ready to launch it, EVER.
You just have to get started at some point. When you know that you’re 75% ready, that’s a great place to get out there in the world of the noisy market place. What would cut through the noise it your unique product as there won’t be another YOU on this planet.
You might be offering a service or a product which is already on high demand, but the uniqueness of you would attract the right customers who would cross another person offering the same just to buy from YOU.
Of course you might not know how you’re going to get your first sale YET, but what you should mainly be focusing on is to making it clear for your clients what you’re offering & providing value to your customers.
Definitely you’d want your first ever marketing content or post to be a great one & thinking about this would drain almost all your energy up.
Instead, designs a great “welcome to your page” with your unique style & post it out there. Now, not that scary right?😁
So once you’ve posted a first post it would act as a foundation for you to start stacking your contents on top & enjoy building it.
Psss.. Remember that everyone which you confront after you start your business is not a customer, but building great relationships with new people would take you as far as getting introduced to other people who needs what you’re offering.
